Deputy Willis got out of his unit without regard for his own safety and started directing traffic on US HWY 165 at an accident which had occurred. Deputy Willis was in the process of keeping the traffic flowing, when a distracted motorist, who disregarded Deputy Willis’ signal to stop, struck Deputy Willis causing his death. Deputy Willis’ sacrifice was great, but the loss of our brother was greater. We are saddened that Buddy is no longer here, but are at ease as we know he is watching over us while we perform our duties.
